How to build a successful work team in your organization?

To start this topic, first there must be a team existence for achieving better results. It's very important to focus that teams must be endurable to produce those results. This will be achieved by developing inter-relationships among team members, and this relationships look to maintain the work flow to produce good results without any distractions in the team. The following are the process of making a successful team so that team can go to the next level to achieve effectiveness and efficiency towards organizational goals.

1. Measure the current effectiveness of your team

In order to make successful team at very first we need to evaluate the current team position. The current team evaluation can be done in several different ways:

Personal Interviews:
Face-to face interviews for each team members to answer certain questions will measure their effectiveness in the team. However, sometimes the team members cannot answers to the questions because of some organizational information and facts. So the best results are possible when the interviews are conducted by external organizer. Also this helps to maintain confidentiality among the team members.

Simple measurement:
The name itself suggests its simple in the procedure. A scale of 1 to 10 indicates the value of the team. This will be easily answered by the team members to find out the current position of the team. From the responses we will be able to build effective team in the long process.

Assessment tool:
This is the best method to measure the correct state of the team by asking set of questions because it is unknown, unbiased and team members are generally very open in their responses. With these results, the team, knows its value and analyze the areas to improve if needed.

2. Create your vision of a highly successful team

The famous organizational writers Stephen Covey and few others using the concept called 'begin with the end in mind'. This concept brings about the imagination to create the most successful, productive, cohesive team that you desire. The vision of your team can include the following components:

-Team's value, priorities and desired results
-Organization's values, priorities and desired results for this team.
-Team member values, priorities and desired results for this team.
-Productivity factors:
It has some important factors to support the team in achieving results, performing tasks, staying on course to reach goals and objectives. They include strengths such as responsibility, decision making, goal setting, etc.
-Positivity factors:
It has the factors that focus on the inter-relationships between team members and the spirit or tone of the team as a system. It includes strengths such as trust, respect, clear communication, handling conflict, companionship etc.

To create your desired team’s vision, schedule a time to meet with them to allow for everyone to participate in this creative process. To achieve desired results that will be beneficial both to individual in the team as well as for the organization.

3. Communicate effectively



Everyone receives information differently if you broadcast important message. Few of them must have to see than hear it because of their personal perspective. However, the same works may not work for all your team members.

We can find-out each members ability to receive information in order to process it. Ask the team members 'what do you understand the last message?' so that they can tell you whether they are visual learners or auditory learners etc.

Remember to use different methods to communicate what you want to tell or convey to your team members. Check in with your team regarding your communication and ask them how you can improve.

4. Develop a plan to turn your team vision into reality

Now we find the team's effectiveness, vision of the desired team, how to best communicate with team members, it’s time to create action plan.

5. Take a stand for your team
